October has a reputation as Bitcoin's best month. The record mostly backs that up, with one big warning from last year.

The short answer
Bitcoin closed October higher in 10 of the last 13 years, with a median gain of about 15%. That is why traders call it Uptober. But October 2025 closed -3.7%, so history is a tailwind, not a promise.
Bitcoin starts October 2026 near $83,722, after a strong third quarter: +7.2% in July, +25.0% in August and about +6% in September. That puts it well clear of this year's lows, but still about 34% below the $126,080 all-time high set on 6 October 2025.

The average of about +19% is pulled up by a few huge years, such as 2013, 2017 and 2021. The median, about +15%, is the more honest guide. The three red Octobers (2014, 2018 and 2025) all came in years when the wider market was already under pressure.
Last October is the lesson. Bitcoin hit its record high on 6 October 2025, and four days later the market went through one of the largest liquidation days in crypto history. The month still closed lower. A good month on the calendar cannot beat a crowded, over-leveraged market.
Three things that could shape October 2026
What Uptober means for Bitcoin miners
For a miner, the price only matters through hashprice: what one petahash of computing power earns per day. At today's price and difficulty, that is about $40 per PH per day, one of the best readings since spring. The next difficulty adjustment, due around 3 October, was expected to be roughly flat.

US dollars per kWh, by machine efficiency
Every current machine clears OneMiners' published hosting rates, which start at $0.048 per kWh in Nigeria and fall to $0.0364 on a 7-year prepaid contract. If Uptober delivers, that margin grows. If it does not, cheap power is the buffer.
THE ONEMINERS VIEW
Nobody controls the calendar. You can control what your power costs. Miners who lock in cheap, fixed electricity before a good month are the ones who keep more of it. Every OneMiners rate is published on the hosting centers page.
